Ayurvedic Origin

Known as Avagaha Sweda (Liquid Fomentation). It is primarily used to balance Vata Dosha (dryness/anxiety) and Pitta Dosha (heat/inflammation).

Unlike steam (which is intense heat), a bath is soothing and grounding. The water element cools the emotions while the heat relaxes the physical body. It is often prescribed for muscle pain, sciatica, and urinary disorders.

The Science Behind This Treatment

Transdermal Delivery: The warm water causes vasodilation (opening of blood capillaries). Since the skin was prepped with oil, the lipid barrier is permeable. This allows the phytonutrients (plant compounds) from the bath to be absorbed rapidly into the peripheral circulation.

Hydrostatic Pressure: The weight of the water exerts gentle, uniform pressure on the body. This naturally reduces swelling (edema), supports venous return to the heart, and immediately lowers cortisol levels by calming the sensory receptors on the skin.

The Oil Saturdation

We start with a 60-minute full body massage to stimulate circulation and loosen toxins.

The Preparation

A warm bath is prepared with specific fresh herbs, flowers, and medicinal decoctions tailored to your condition.

The Immersion

You soak in the bath for 20-30 minutes. Your body is submerged up to the neck, while your head remains cool on a towel cushion.

The Absorption

No soap is used. You simply towel dry, allowing the thin film of herbal water and oil to remain on the skin as a protective barrier.

Dry or aging skin (Psoriasis/Eczema), high stress, anxiety, lower back pain, stiffness in the hips, and general physical fatigue.

Large open wounds or skin infections (risk of contamination), very low blood pressure (risk of dizziness in hot water), or immediately after a heavy meal.

Do not shower with soap for at least 4 hours. Let the herbal oils continue to feed your skin. Move slowly when getting out of the bath as your blood pressure may have dropped slightly (this is normal relaxation). Drink water to rehydrate.
